1/4-20 Nut Knob for Articulating Arm Mount
thingiverse
This is a remix of the Sneaks excellent Articulating Arm knob to support heavier loads and better ergonomics. The 90 degree male-female part is very useful for precise positioning. When it is printed vertically with the pre-supported model, the weaker inter-layer bond goes across the most stressed area of a single fin. Also, the printed nut and bolt can break or bind. The redundant knob makes finding the true adjustment knob more difficult. Printing the 90 degree part horizontal in PETG at .15 layer height with supports under the single fin creates a very strong part. There is some clean-up to do on the supported surface but this compromise seems to make the most useful part vs all other possible orientations. A standard steel 1/4-20 x 1" bolt is much stronger and easy to turn than the printed part. This knob re-mix accepts a matching 1/4-20 nut. Now the arm is easier to adjust at a glance, will accept much higher loads and go to longer lengths without breaking.
