1,3Ghz Dual BiQuad Antenna (13dbi)

Build Your Own 13dbi Dual BiQuad Antenna for 1.2-1.3Ghz Frequency This antenna is linearly polarized and works great with your 1.2 - 1.3Ghz FPV model. Tested to a range of 50+km, it's an adaptation of the original biquad design posted on RCGroups by Alex, aka IBCrazy. Select the template you want to use (sharp corners or round) and whether you want to print it directly with spacers or glue them on later (makes it easier to get everything lined up as the spacer doesn't get in the way). You'll also need: 1 sheet of sheet metal (thickness doesn't matter much - e.g. 26 gauge galvanized steel or a copper PCB board) - dimensions: 9.17”/23.28cm x 18.34”/46.56cm (if it's a bit off, it's not dramatic. Make sure it covers the full area of the printed part) 1 coaxial cable (e.g. RG58/U) 1 length of solid 1.5mm copper wire Tools: Tape measure Soldering iron Solder Calipers (optional) Drill How to put it together: Print the template and bend the copper wire, pressing it into the groove inside the template. This takes care of the right length and shape. The wire is placed inside the template in one piece. The center top is bent, and the 2 ends meet in the middle from the bottom left and right. For the double biquad, start in the middle and follow the groove all the way, only bending the wire at the end points and not at the 2 outer cross sections. Make sure the wires don't touch at intersection points (you could pull a small heat shrink tube over it or bend and place a drop of hot glue between them). See the picture for more info. Finally, follow the same instructions as for the biquad antenna here to finish it off (use printed spacers instead of nylon bolts): http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1328260 Have fun and fly safe.
