This is a recreation of the Philippeion in ancient Olympia, Greece; a majestic temple honoring Philip II and his illustrious royal family. The original masterpiece was completed in 338 BCE, an impressive feat that stood the test of time. This historic monument holds a unique distinction as the only temple dedicated to a human in all of Olympia. Inside the original Philippeion, a stunning statue of Philip II, his illustrious son Alexander the Great, and their esteemed Macedonian family took center stage. Crafted from exquisite ivory and gold, this magnificent sculpture was a testament to the artistic prowess of its creators. What's more, it served as a bold statement, positioning the royal family on par with the mighty King of the Gods. The Philippeion was designed in the iconic Ionic style, an ancient Greek architectural tradition that exudes elegance and sophistication. Though time has taken its toll, leaving behind only fragments of the original structure – a small portion of the base and several broken columns – this temple remains an awe-inspiring sight to behold.
