1/2" Female to 1/4" Male NPT Adapter
thingiverse
Our compressor's inlet filter, a 1/4 inch snubber that came with the laser cutter, consistently clogged with dirt, starving the compressor of airflow. After cleaning it several times, I decided to replace it and chose the cheapest option available on Amazon. When they sent me a 1/2 inch snubber despite clearly advertising a 1/4 inch model, I thought this was actually a better solution - it would take much longer to block airflow! The only problem was connecting the two together within my budget. Without buying multiple adapters to reduce the 1/2 inch male NPT fitting to a 1/4 inch female NPT on the compressor or spending a lot for a metal fitting (it doesn't need to be water- or airtight), I decided to design and print my own adapter. Print Settings Printer Brand: Ultimaker Printer: Ultimaker 2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.1mm Infill: 50% Notes: The parts were printed with 1mm thick walls and 50% infill for no particular reason. Post-Printing No clean-up was required, and the parts threaded together perfectly! How I Designed This I used Fusion 360 to design this adapter, importing NPT plugs from McMaster-Carr's catalogue.
