This is a blanking plug for a 1/2" BSP pipe fitting designed to test water tightness of print settings. Its main purpose was to verify if a shower head thread can be replicated using 3D printing technology, making it easy to remove the shower head and replace it with this plug before checking the printer's ability to hold mains water pressure. With confidence in its performance, the same print settings can then be used for other items knowing they will be water tight and strong enough to withstand water pressure. However, note that there is no built-in sealing mechanism for the threads, making it essential to use PTFE tape, liquid thread sealant (adhesive), or a rubber gasket to ensure a watertight connection. Printer settings used: * Printer Brand: Up! * Printer Model: Up Plus2 * Raft Use: Doesn't Matter * Supports Used: Yes * Resolution: 0.2mm * Infill Percentage: 100% Post-printing testing is crucial, as this part might not be watertight on all printers. It's best to test it before using it for critical applications. If leaks occur through the threads, reduce the print scale slightly or apply one of the recommended sealing techniques. If the part is porous, try adjusting the print settings (higher temperature hotend, less fan speed, or more extrusion) or apply an acetone or lacquer treatment. Ensure any treatments are fully dry before retesting or using the part.
