1-2-3 Blocks (also Metric) - for Woodworking

<p>1-2-3 blocks (metal blocks 1" x 2" x 3" in size, or metric 25mm X 50mm X 75mm) are commonly used in machining. Many woodworkers also use them as a convenient aid for spacing and supporting work. However, machinist 1-2-3 blocks are expensive because they provide a level of precision that is necessary for machining, but is over-kill for woodworking.</p><p>There are number of advantages to using plastic 1-2-3 blocks in the wood shop instead of metal ones :</p><ul><li>They are more than precise enough for wood-working</li><li>They are light and durable</li><li>If you accidentally hit one with your saw blade it will not destroy the saw blade</li><li>They can be designed with features useful to woodworking</li></ul><p>A set (2) of low cost 1-2-3 blocks will cost you at least $20, but you can print a set for about $2. &nbsp;The dimensions of the ones I printed are within a few thousands of an inch (a few hundredths of a mm) of the nominal values - more than good enough for woodworking.</p><p>The design of these prints has been optimized for 3D printing (hence the diamond shaped holes), and to reduce filament use while retaining weight.
