1/16 sized Violin
thingiverse
My wife is a violinist who requested me to print her one. I discovered the necessary STL files from forums.luxology.com/topic.aspx?f=4&t=61185 (link omitted to keep within word limit). The model was large, so I ensured that all parts were scaled to size while fitting within Replicator's volume limits. A 1/16th violin is shown for comparison. Certain components require harder materials than ABS, so I won't use the printed ones. Possibly, I will replace the fingerboard. A music store owner suggested using horsehide glue in future prints due to its low shear strength and high contact strength for easy disassembly if needed. He was thrilled by the prospects! For printing, utilize a raft for all parts. If possible, print bottom, sides, and top as a single unit using PVA for support (this is on my list for future improvements). I used various glues, but wasn't satisfied with any of them. Good luck and happy printing!
