1/16 Scale Electric Violin - EPV R2
thingiverse
This set contains the parts required to manufacture a one-sixteenth scale version of the Electric Parametric Violin (Revision 2). This violin was designed using Solidworks 2012 as part of a parametric model that generates any necessary size of violin. If you need CAD files, they can be found at this location. This collection of instruments is my third attempt at electric violin design - I built a half-scale version for my daughter on the first try and a quarter scale version for my son on the second try. The Electric Parametric Violin's roots come from David Perry's excellent FFFiddle. A range of EPV sizes are available: * 4/4 Scale * 3/4 Scale * 1/2 Scale * 1/4 Scale * 1/8 Scale * 1/16 Scale Here are the instructions: Quick Start: Detailed build instructions can be found in this document. Large parts are included with separate split versions for smaller printers. I printed all parts with a raft, 15% infill, and four shells. The fingerboard should be printed without support because it's difficult to remove from the long holes in the part. You can use music wire and a drill if you print this with support. I used ABS but any stiff polymer should work fine. Additional components needed: * Schaller M6 Mini tuners (six) * K&K sound "Twin spot" piezoelectric pickup * 1/4 inch rod or tube * Violin strings * 20 inches of music wire with a diameter between 0.025 and 0.035 inches - alternatively, a ball-end violin string can be used Tools needed: * Hacksaw for cutting slots in the end of the tube to catch the knot at the end of the music wire * Small Phillips screwdriver for driving tuner screws * Sandpaper with various grits to smooth the surface of the fingerboard. Use the right solvent to make the process easier. * 10mm wrench for tightening the tuner banjo nuts. * File or sharp knife to create notches in the bridge and nut for strings. Clean prints with proper support removal tools.
