1/10th Scale Drift Tires

thingiverse

We're excited to showcase our RC drift car driving area at this year's Maker Expo, where visitors can take turns racing their own custom 3D printed drift wheels and tires. This is our second consecutive year hosting the event and we're eager to demonstrate that with a little creativity and resourcefulness, you don't have to rely on commercial products to create an amazing experience. Our latest iteration of 3D printed drift wheels and tires has already proven its durability by surviving five hours of non-stop crashing into the barriers. We've designed these parts using PLA for the wheel and TPU for the tire, ensuring a seamless fit that eliminates the need for glue. A slight modification in your slicer should give you a tight enough fit to print without any additional adhesive. To get started, simply download our 3D model and mirror it for left and right wheels in your preferred slicing software - we used Slic3r PE with great results. Be sure to print the wheel supports, but feel free to skip the tire supports as they're not necessary. If you encounter any issues with a loose fit, try shrinking the tire using a heat gun or hair dryer while constantly rotating it for a few minutes. This trick worked wonders for us and we're confident it will do the same for you. When paired with a Traxxas 4tec 2.0, our 3D printed drift wheels and tires will perform flawlessly on any 1/10th scale car equipped with 12mm hexes - especially those with wider rear tires. Don't be afraid to experiment and make adjustments as needed; we're always here to help you fine-tune your creations and push the boundaries of what's possible with 3D printing technology.
