1/10 direct drive winch for crawler
thingiverse
UPDATE: I seized a little free time today to re-design the files, and now the V2 files are almost identical to the RC4WD type of winch design. Enjoy! I decided to create my own direct drive winch version using some N20 motors that I had lying around. The motor I used is a 6v 30rpm model, which is why it's so slow. You can find this same motor on Banggood at https://www.banggood.com/GA12-N20-Mini-DC-6V-30RPM-Gear-Motor-p-971121.html?rmmds=search&cur_warehouse=CN. They offer many different RPM options, making it easy to choose the right one for your needs. Kr3os had a great design in my opinion, but it relied on gears, which can be unreliable. I used his design as a foundation and added a 10x4x3mm bearing to support the stress on the spool. Next, I shortened the frame and redesigned the motor mount for direct drive use. The spool was provided by djshua, and I added my own personal touch. I used a 3x3mm set screw to lock it down to the output shaft. The bearing side of the spool is supported by a 3x12mm SCHS. IMPORTANT: DO NOT TIGHTEN DOWN SPOOL BEARING SCREW. SCREW IT IN ONLY ABOUT 1MM FROM THE END OF THE SPOOL CAP. All other screws are 3mm SCHS, and the standoffs are 25mm with threads for 3mm SCHS.
