1:1 scale customizable bowling ball
thingiverse
It's a realistic, printable bowling ball model that I created to practice my bowling at home without breaking anything. This model is designed for practicing bowling techniques while minimizing the risk of damage. Although it may not be heavy enough to play a full stroke, it should still allow you to check your form and steps effectively. Technically speaking, you can even get a real 15-pound bowling ball made from PLA by printing it with 100% infill. This model is highly customizable. The terminology used in the design might differ from what professional drillers use, but measuring your own ball and creating a copy of it should be no problem at all. I created an online customizer to make things easier for you. However, please note that the online customizer produces only a low-quality model. If you want a perfect sphere-shaped ball, download the `bowling_ball.scad` file instead and try adjusting `$fa`. Lowering this value will result in a smoother model. Values of 2 or 3 should be sufficient for a perfect sphere shape. I had to keep my value high because lower values caused the customizer to hang indefinitely. I'm currently printing it, and I'll upload pictures once it's done.
