08.Hornby O Gauge Locomotive Tender Wheels
thingiverse
I recently stumbled upon an old 1950s Hornby tin plate engine in a charity shop, a find that was impossible for me to ignore. This discovery sparked a flood of memories from my childhood, when I inherited this very same engine from my elder siblings many years ago and devoted myself to meticulously oiling its motion, quartering its wheels, and re-pinning the broken spring. Back then, fixing other children's trains was a regular occurrence for me, often requiring me to free their seized states by applying oil. Occasionally, I was tasked with removing the back of tank engines to access the cab or loosening tags holding the smoke box door in place to reach the boiler inside. It's no surprise that this engine was missing its parts, and perhaps it's simply a case of karma. Now, I'm faced with a decision: should I wait for a cheap body to appear on eBay, which would allow me to cannibalize it, or design my own using 3D printing technology? The prospect of creating something from scratch is intriguing, but the process will undoubtedly be time-consuming and challenging. As part of my ongoing restoration project, I've made significant progress in replacing wagon wheels and even complete tenders. A series of prints has been created, which will continue to evolve over time as I add new components and details.
