05.Hornby O Gauge Locomotive Control Rod Knob
thingiverse
I recently stumbled upon an old 1950s Hornby tin plate engine at a charity shop, and the price was one I couldn't resist. This find instantly brought back memories of my inherited locomotive from years ago and my quest to oil its motion, quarter the wheels, and re-pin its broken spring. Back then, I used to fix other kids' trains, which typically meant freeing them up from a seized state by applying oil. However, on some occasions, parents would ask me to remove tank engines' back covers for better cab access or loosen smoke box door tags to reach the boiler inside. No surprise that this engine was missing those parts and maybe karma at play! Now, I'm wondering what my next move should be: wait for a low-cost body to appear on eBay and cannibalize it or design one myself for 3D printing? Here's how my current restoration project has progressed so far. I've added replacement wagon wheels and even complete tenders, extending the scope of this endeavor over time.
