Before the expensive Bachmann Quarry Hunslet, the easiest way to get a representation of these gorgeous narrow gauge steam locos was to buy a 3D printed shell and fit to a Kato 11-103 / 11-109 0-4-0 chassis, although this mean having a mechanical drive chassis visible instead of steam loco motion. The bodies I used also lacked boiler backheads, so I have drawn one of these, too, more important on the open cab variant. The versions I purchased were by '3D-Factory UK' but there are other suppliers of similar bodies and I have no connection to any kit manufacturers. A common solution to the subpar visuals using the Kato for freelance modellers has been to add sideplates to simulate the locos running on a narrow gauge tramway inspired by the likes of Glyn Valley Tramway, or Clogher Valley tram models already on the market. With these sideplates, I've added dummy connecting road clearance as well as coupling rod envelopes to imply the motion underneath, and centred these more closely to a Quarry Hunslet rather than the Kato chassis which has a wheelbase longer than it should be, as well as extending the plate over where the bearing hornblock would be.
