It first appeared as the title weapon in Ian Fleming's posthumously published novel, The Man with the Golden Gun. In the film adaptation, this custom-built pistol is a single-shot handgun assembled from four seemingly harmless golden objects: a pen, a lighter, a cigarette case and a cufflink. Its immense popularity led to its appearances in most of the James Bond video games.
