.005" Test Indicator
thingiverse
This is a .005" resolution test indicator I designed and printed. I consider it mostly an experiment and a toy. There is reason nobody makes .005" indicators. It's just not high enough resolution to need something like an indicator. Making this does require two 608 bearings. There is return spring that can be installed on the back but it does cause some issues. This thing is vey accurate without the spring, but is a lot less useful. The spring causes the needle to sometimes be a little jumpy but the main issue is that with the spring installed the indicator accumulates error as more tension is put on the spring. With the spring, it works pretty well within about s .015" range before the error starts to compound to be an issues at the .005" resolution. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nFaQ9x-X-s
