The Sarmatian bronze helmet II from the 2nd century BCE of Celtic-Italian type is designed to protect against blows aimed at the upper part of the head. Arrows and sword strikes ricochet off the spherical shape of the helmet. A narrow occipital plate protects the neck and nape. Side openings in the helmet are made for attaching cheek guards that shielded the warrior's face.
