Rugged ceramic smoker from the Achaemenid tomb. This type of smoker belongs to the Catacomb culture of the Middle Bronze Age, XVII-XV centuries BC. In those times, fire worship was widespread. The hearth in the tomb served not only as a container for purifying fire but also as a symbol of the home hearth. Over time, smokers from fragments of pots are replaced by specialized cult vessels - smokers, designed to burn aromatic substances. A piece of fabric is placed in a side pocket, and oil is poured into the smoker's pouch, which flows through a thin hole to the fabric. The body of the smoker and the cruciform base are covered with rich ornamentation.
