A stone flint axe from the Late Paleolithic era, approximately 12 thousand years ago, was discovered near Magas city. The stone axe replaced an older hand axe without a handle. Flint, obsidian and many other hard rocks were used as materials. Stone axes were made by pecking and did not have holes for handles; they were tied to them with leather straps or animal tendons. They were intended for cutting wood.
