$0.70Control Horn – 50mm (~ 2 inches)
myminifactory
A compact control horn designed for mid-size model aircraft with a wingspan of approximately 1 to 1.5 meters (~39 to 60 inches) can be created using materials like foamboard, cardboard and/or balsa. The control horn features a 50mm (~2 inches) mounting base that provides positive control authority while minimizing flex and/or flutter of the control surfaces. It is suitable for use with many RC aircrafts performing 3D aerobatics. The horn can be easily printed without supports using a modern inexpensive 3D printer with various materials, including PLA, PETG, ABS and other printable materials. PLA works well for this application unless the model aircraft will be kept or stored in high temperature environments such as a parked car in summer where temperatures may exceed ~55 C (~130 F). In such cases, PLA is likely to deform and warp. Therefore, I recommend using PETG or ABS instead to print part. This horn has been successfully used since early 2018 and serves as an excellent upgrade for many foamboard kits.
