I recently acquired a new Joy-Con grip and placed SpongeBob on it effortlessly.

The modification enables access to both PIN1, which serves as ground, and PIN4, which supplies 5 volts, utilized for powering and charging the Joy-Con.

It's basically a modification to get access to both PIN1 (GND) and PIN4 (5V), the last is used for Joy-Con power and charging.
